Marlie Hayes is a third-year graphic design major at the University of Florida. She is exploring the uses of typography, graphics, and the intentional use of color to create impactful designs. Marlie aims to work in layout, typographic design. She is particularly interested in creating branding for companies and educational designs that serve their mission.
She is proficient in Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, skills she developed through the accredited curriculum at the University of Florida College of the Arts. In the course Visual Methods and Processes, she created a shirt design and company branding for a movement to end gun violence, utilizing heavy typography and illustrations to amplify the company's voice.
Currently, she is expanding her skills through her studies, specifically in Typography 2 and Visualization and Creativity. In her free time, she also designs clothing merchandise for Club Water Polo and serves as a student ambassador for the School of Art and Art History. In the future, she hopes to work as a designer for a nonprofit organization that makes a social or environmental impact.
Marlie grew up in Orlando, Florida. Outside of design, she enjoys playing club water polo at UF and photographing nature. She also loves to read fantasy and mystery books while cuddling with her cat, Little Man, and spending time at local parks with friends.
